Christ was either the Messiah or Insane. But you can't reduce his life and messages and merely call him "A good teacher."

I recently quit my job with the woman who was writing her self-help book. I told her that I believed her book would be a disservice to Christianity and I couldn't have my name on it. Desiring to "not exclude anyone" with her book, she wanted me to send her a paragraph of who "my god" was. Her belief is that none of us are sinners. That we all exist to empower one another and bring glory to ourselves. Here is what I sent her.

God is perfect, holy, all-knowing, just, righteous, creator of all things, all-powerful, all-loving.

Because of the fall of Man in the acts occurring in the Garden of Eden, humanity is, by nature, sinful. We exist to serve only ourselves and our desires. God created us, and everything else, however, for HIS glorification. Sin is any act or thought that is contrary to God's purpose and will for us. We sin in direct violation of God's standards for the purpose of meeting our own desires. Every person, without exception, is a sinner. (Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God). According to the bible, the cost of sin is death. Because God is just, sin must be punished. One sin against God is worthy of an eternity in hell because of his infinite holiness. And all sin is sin against God. Without a redeemer, the human race is hopeless and doomed to damnation and an eternity apart from God, and rightly so because of our sinfulness. (Isaiah 59:2-3 - but your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you so that he does not hear. For your hands are defiled with blood and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies; your tongue mutters wickedness).

God, in his sovereign love for his creation, provides a redeemer. This redeemer is his son, Jesus Christ. Christ, from a supernatural birth, and a prophetical lineage, is the old testament's prophesied Messiah and Savior. His entire life and ministry was perfect, blameless, and pointed towards his death. He came to this world to die. His purpose was to live perfectly so that he could be the innocent sacrifice for the entire human race. It is only through faith in him that humanity can be received by God. In faith of Christ as the Messiah, and our need for redemption from the sin that separates us from God, we receive forgiveness for all our sin. Because of our natural sin, we still have to endure a physical death. But when we come before God and face our judgment, those who accept the free gift of Christ, God sees as sinless and innocent as Christ was and is. No sin or imperfection can enter the kingdom of heaven. For those who die and face judgment that have not accepted a biblical redemption, all that is seen is their unforgiven sin. These are sent immediately to hell for eternity by the perfect, just, and righteous God.

John 3:16-18 - "For God so loved the world that He gave his only son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned but whoever does not believe is condemned already because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God."

This gospel is exclusive. It is not and cannot be accompanied with any other means of redemption before God. Because if there was alternate ways to connect with God, the brutal death of his perfect innocent Son is cruel and ultimately unnecessary. This is the only means to Heaven. All other roads lead to eternal, just, and righteous damnation.

Romans 5: 15-21 - But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man's trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many. And the free gift is not like the result of that one man's sin. For the judgment following one trespass brought condemnation, but the free gift following many trespasses brought justification. For if, because of one man's trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ. Therefore as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. For as by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners, so by the the one man's obedience, the many will be made righteous. Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

All of this is directly biblical as the bible, man written but God inspired, is the authoritative book that gives us insight into God. It is infallible and perfect. It is the word of God given to a world that he loves enough to kill his own son over.

Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Whether she likes it or not, her book, one whose purpose is to achieve successes and validation within yourself, will naturally exclude God fearing believers who live for the glorification of Christ and maintain a humble and low view of themselves in light of their sin.
