Peonies - and flowers in general

I dang-near flipped when I saw peonies for the first time at Trader Joes. They're some of my favorite flowers (I think tulips are my all-time favorite) and are just gorgeous. Unfortunately, they're a little pricier than most other flowers. Despite this, they're still a relatively-inexpensive way to brighten up the house and fill me with joy.

Flowers are such a display of God's beauty in creation. As creatures, we were made to not only understand beauty, but to admire it, praise it, to crave it. The reason for this is to point to the Lord who is the most beautiful being we could ever possibly admire, praise and crave. Praise of minor beauties give us a slice of joy. Praise of the ultimate beauty gives us ultimate and eternal joy. But eventually, these flowers will die. (And considering I'm pretty careless, it will probably be a premature death for these guys - I'll try not to be too careless though). As much as I love smaller beauties, I love even more to meditate on ultimate things that have ultimate implications for my life.
